Library House is a research and data services company that helps investors discover, measure and meet innovation-based investment opportunities across Europe.

It provides a range of research and strategic services to corporations and institutions including venture capital, banking, mergers and acquisitions, law, accountancy, technology transfer and other specialist services. Its members are leading UK, European and US firms, including: APAX, Atlas, Amadeus, Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Quester, Siemens Ventures and Scottish Equity Partners; leading law and accounting firms; and government agencies.

Its research focuses on the discovery, monitoring and measurement of innovation companies; it also initiates meetings and events with these private technology-based companies for the benefit of members and clients.

Doug Richard, Founder & Chairman

Doug is the founder and Chairman of Library House and has more than 18 years experience in the development and leadership of technology and software ventures, both in the US and in the UK. In addition to his Library House involvement, he is founder and partner of Automatic Capital LLP and founder and vice-chairman of Cambridge Angels. Previously, he was vice president and later president and CEO of US publicly quoted software company Micrografx with offices in 11 countries which he sold to Corel Corporation in 2000.
Prior to Micrografx he was the founder and CEO of Visual software which was set up with the mission of bringing high-end 3D technology to the PC market in the form of creativity and productivity applications. After five years Visual Software was sold to Micrografx in 1996. Before Visual Software he was the founder of ITAL Computers that provided CAD/CAM systems integration services to the southern California aerospace industry. ITAL Computers was sold in a private transaction in 1991 and proceeds used to found Visual Software. Doug has a BA in psychology from University of California at Berkeley and a Juris Doctor from the School of Law, University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) and an Executive Management Certificate from the UCLA Anderson School of Business.
Doug has extensive experience as an entrepreneur, technology visionary and senior executive of both public and private technology companies both in the US and Europe.
Charles Cotton, Executive Director

Charles has more than 20 years experience as a consultant, entrepreneur and senior executive in the technology space. In addition to his Library House involvement, he is Chairman of Level 5 Networks; a Supervisory Board Member of Tele Atlas, the Frankfurt Exchange listed supplier of digital maps; an investor in and adviser to venture capital firms; and a business angel. Previously, he was Executive Chairman of GlobespanVirata Inc. the NASDAQ listed, New Jersey based, semiconductor company. Prior to the merger with GlobeSpan, he was CEO of Santa Clara based Virata Corp. He took Virata public on NASDAQ, in 1999, raised $674 million across six financing rounds, executed five acquisitions and established and ran a venture fund.

Previously, he was a Partner at Schofield Maguire, the business consulting firm. Before that he was CEO of Shandwick Europe; President of Boston Mass. based Thermal Scientific Inc, and a Director of London Stock Exchange listed Thermal Scientific Ltd. Prior to that he was Sales and Marketing Director at Sinclair Research Ltd. and held senior Operations, Finance, Marketing and Product Planning positions at British Leyland and Ford. He has a BA Hons. in Physics from Oxford University.

Charles has extensive experience running global private and public technology companies based in the US and Europe. In addition, he has delivered high-level consulting assignments in Europe and Asia.
