CSR plc is the leading global provider of Bluetooth technology and has developed expertise in other single-chip wireless communication standards such as Wi-Fi (IEEE802.11). CSR offers developed hardware/software solutions for Bluetooth based around BlueCore, a fully integrated 2.4 GHz radio, baseband and microcontroller.

CSR has now launched its fifth generation BlueCore suite and is in volume manufacture of its fourth generation BlueCore devices. BlueCore4 supports the Enhanced Data Rate (EDR) standard that was ratified at the end of 2004. BlueCore4 remains the only EDR silicon to be shipping in volume today. In November 2004 CSR launched UniFi, the first single chip 802.11a/b/g embedded solution specifically targeting the mobile phone and consumer electronics markets.

BlueCore features in over 50% of all Bluetooth devices shipped and over 60% of all qualified Bluetooth enabled products and modules listed on the Bluetooth website with industry leaders including Nokia, Dell, Panasonic, Sharp, Motorola, IBM, Apple, NEC, Toshiba, RIM and Sony using BlueCore devices in their range of Bluetooth products.

In March 2005, CSR acquired Clarity Technologies Inc., for its Clear Voice Capture (CVC) technology that enhances the audio performance of any voice-based product or system. Applications for CVC include wireless headsets, handsets and automotive hands free systems.

In August 2005, CSR completed the acquisition of UbiNetics' software business, providing a strong R&D team to accelerate its existing software development in Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and UWB. The UbiNetics team gives CSR the capacity to extend its offering to mobile handset customers.

Glenn Collinson, sales director

Glenn Collinson has served as CSR’s sales director since August 2002. Between CSR’s establishment in April 1999 and August 2002, Mr Collinson was marketing director at CSR. He is a cofounder of CSR. Between 1996 and the time CSR was established, Mr. Collinson served as a senior engineer and then as a marketing manager at Cambridge Consultants Limited. Between 1989 and 1996, he served as a design engineer and then as a marketing manager at Texas Instruments Limited, working in the UK for five years and in Germany for two years. Prior to 1989, Mr. Collinson held technical positions at Motorola and Racal. He holds a B.Sc. in physics and a M.Sc. in electronics from Durham University, UK, and an M.B.A. from Cranfield University, UK. Mr. Collinson is a member of the Institute of Electrical Engineers.
Joep van Beurden, Chief Executive Officer

Mr. van Beurden was appointed Chief Executive Officer of CSR on 1 November 2007. Mr van Beurden has over 10 years of experience in managing technology companies in the US and Europe. For the three years prior to joining CSR, he was Chief Executive of NexWave Inc., a provider of embedded software solutions for the consumer electronics market based in France. Before joining NexWave, Mr. van Beurden held senior positions at Canesta Inc., a fabless semiconductor company, and Philips Components, where he established and then was a Philips senior executive for a successful consumer electronics joint venture with LGE. Prior to that, Mr. van Beurden worked for five years for management and strategy consultants McKinsey & Company. Mr van Beurden has also worked as a crude oil trader for Royal Dutch Shell in Rotterdam and lectured in Physics and Electronics at the University of Zambia. Mr. van Beurden holds a Masters degree in Applied Physics from Twente University of Technology in Enchede, the Netherlands.
