The Fund specialises in making investments in new or existing small and medium-sized businesses (SME's) that can demonstrate significant growth potential and are either based, or conduct a significant part of their business, in the East of England. CREATE is actively seeking smaller sized businesses with high growth potential across the whole range of investment stages including start-up, early stage, development/ expansion and MBO/ MBI. The Fund will provide venture capital investments, of up to an initial £250,000 with follow-on investment of up to a further £250,000 available. Once invested in a business, the Fund is capable of investing further to avoid dilution up to a maximum of £2m in any one company.
The Fund may invest alongside private investors, Banks, or seed corn venture capital funds. The East of England region includes the following counties: Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Essex, Suffolk and Norfolk.
CREATE is regulated by the Financial Services Authority.

Boyd Mulvey has 15 years of experience in providing strategic and financial advice at board level in both leading international and smaller UK based businesses. Boyd has worked at board level in leading financial institutions including CSFP (now CSFB) and UBS and has helped finance and structure corporate transactions involving many publicly listed UK companies. Boyd has advised on the listing (IPO) of many UK companies including the first ever flotation on TechMARK (the UK's leading technology index). Boyd has extensive UK corporate finance experience covering fund raisings, mergers, acquisitions, de-listings and structured finance transactions. Boyd studied finance and economics at the University of Lethbridge, Canada. | Matt started his career with UBS in 1993 in the emerging markets finance team in Zurich, concentrating on corporate transactions in Greece, Israel, Turkey, and South Africa. In 1995 he joined the UBS Investment Banking division in London where he initially worked on the successful implementation of a new pan-European Origination strategy following which Matt moved to the international M&A transactions team. During 1998 to 2000, he was an Assistant Director in Crédit Agricole Indosuez's Corporate Finance business in both Paris and London where he was involved in building the team and executing cross border M&A transactions. Matt has extensive international banking experience in cross-border M&A, structured finance and business strategy reviews and implementations. Matt is the Business Development Director of CREATE. Matt holds an honours degree in Investment Management from the Rand Afrikaans University, Johannesburg. |
