Staff
Brian Moon was appointed CEO of Cambridge Consultants in July 2001. Before taking up the post of CEO, Dr Moon, was responsible for our healthcare business unit, an area of the business that Brian first led the firm into just ten years ago. Today, work in the healthcare and biotech sector, is mainly conducted in Europe and the USA, and accounts for a third of Cambridge Consultants' business. Dr Moon studied Biophysics at London University, graduating in 1973. In 1974 he was awarded a MSc in Nuclear and Elementary Particle Physics for a dissertation on pion-nucleon scattering. He was awarded a PhD in 1978 for his research into the flow-optical properties of colloids such as virus and polymer dispersions. Much of this work was directed to particle sizing and diagnostics in medicine and engineering. Joining us in 1982 as an engineer in Optical Science, Dr Moon has subsequently held a range of posts including that of Marketing Director. Outside work, Brian occasionally finds time to practice a life long passion which is playing his collection of blues and acoustic guitars. | Alan joined Cambridge Consultants in February 1984. Between then and 2002, when he was appointed Chief Technical Officer and earned a seat on the Board, he has played a major role in building our business in electromagnetic sensors, becoming Business Unit Manager of the Product Development Business. He restructured the group and grew it to become Cambridge Consultants' most profitable Business Unit. The Unit had particular success in exploiting its intellectual property in integrated circuits, radar systems and optical sensors. Alan graduated with a First Class degree in Mathematics from Churchill College Cambridge in 1981. He completed an MBA with Distinction in 1998. Before joining Cambridge Consultants, Alan spent 3 years at C&S Antennas Ltd where he developed computer aided design facilities for antennas and communication systems. Outside work, Alan has been known to spend his time looking out for the elusive Cape Gannet using the more traditional instruments of binoculars or telescope, rather than the sophisticated tools of his trade, radar and antennae. |
Since joining Cambridge Consultants in October 1991 Paul has managed a significant number of our larger multi-disciplinary projects for clients including Iridium, Ascom, Nokia and the Highways Agency. Prior to being appointed to the board in September 2005 as Chief Operations Officer, Paul ran the operations function for the Wireless Business Unit, currently one of the fastest growing business areas. Paul graduated with a degree in Electronic and Electrical Engineering from Birmingham University in 1974. Before joining Cambridge Consultants, Paul deliberately chose to work for both large and small organisations gaining a breadth of experience in digital, analogue and software developments with a variety of commercial and production needs. When he is not poring over a project plan or spreadsheet, Paul relaxes in a narrowboat on the canals of Britain, dreaming of achieving new heights via the Anderton lift and the Falkirk wheel. | Mammen joined Cambridge Consultants as Chief Financial Officer in autumn 2005. Prior to this, Mammen was an Executive Director and Regional Finance Director for the Asian business operations of leading consultancy firms Altran and Arthur D. Little. He primarily operated from a base in Singapore. Mammen graduated with a First Class degree in Commerce from the University of Madras, India. He trained and qualified, in 1986, as a Chartered Accountant with Ernst & Young in London, UK. He is also a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. A year after qualifying, Mammen transferred with Ernst & Young to Toronto, Canada where he worked for over three years, before moving to Sydney, Australia from 1990 to 2000 in senior operational and financial management roles. However, it isn’t only today’s global commerce that inspires Mammen, but his passion for another truly international business – the world of professional cricket, a sport he claims to have followed for "far too many" years. As a cricket enthusiast he has a detailed knowledge of international cricket, but admits he is unfortunately a poor player and has the reputation of being hit for one of the longest sixes ever. |
