Cambridge Biostability
www.biostability.comCambridge Biostability Ltd is a privately held company founded in 1998 with a combination of investor funding and project financing. It has a portfolio of patents and is entering into a number of agreements to licence and provide outsourced production of thermo-stable liquid vaccines and drugs.
Development programmes are underway to stabilise liquid vaccines for measles, heptavalent botulinum and a pentavalent childhood vaccine. The technology has also been proven with a number of different pharmaceuticals, including Erythropoletin (EPO), monoclonal antibodies, insulin and recombinant growth hormones.
Staff
Paul Rewrie has worked in a number of different industries ranging from transport and property to technology. A qualified Chartered Management Accountant, he set up a financial services and accountancy company which has advised many companies around the Cambridge area, including bioscience companies. Paul has also been involved and participated in an MBO and the raising of venture capital for a number of companies. He joined Cambridge Biostability in 2003 and is now responsible for managing the company and its commercial operations. | Shevanti Sen was a founding member of the Quadrant group of companies and was responsible for much of the pioneering experimentation that validated trelahose stabilisation technology. She then joined Axis Genetics as a senior protein chemist responsible for developing stable formulations of bio-pharmaceutical products. More recently, she worked in the pharmaceutical industry for a leading contract research organisation where her role was to establish and a direct a successful bio-pharmaceutical analysis group and to develop and validate a cGMP-compliant environment. She joined Cambridge Biostability to direct the R&D effort towards practical applications of the technology. |
Jane Whitrow is an experienced chartered accountant with a strong track record of working with a range of healthcare, technology and finance companies. As well as being a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, she holds a PhD in chromosome pairing from the University of Birmingham. This unique blend of skills has seen her progress from an Audit Senior at KPMG to the Financial Director of Merlin Biosciences, a leading venture capital and investment company. She joined Cambridge Biostability in 2005. | Cambridge Biostability was founded in 1998 to take advantage of the intellectual property being generated by Bruce Roser's research group at Anglia Polytechnic University (APU) in Cambridge. Bruce Roser is a leading authority on drug stabilisation and delivery and previously founded the Quadrant group of companies where his inventions generated over 20 patents. Since leaving Quadrant, Bruce Roser has filed 14 new patent families worldwide and assigned them to Cambridge Biostability. |
