ARKeX Limited is a double spin out from ARK Geophysics Limited and Oxford Instruments Superconductivity Limited and benefits from proprietary software and patented instrumentation from its founding companies. ARK Geophysics and Oxford Instruments are shareholders in ARKeX and maintain a close interest in the new company’s progress.

The company was founded to provide services in airborne gravity gradiometry to the oil, gas and mining markets. It launched in March 2004 with venture capital of £4 million in a funding round co-led by Scottish Equity Partners and RWE Dynamics, who have each invested £1.5 million. Other investors include Nova Technology Partners, Eurovestech plc and the founders of Oxford Instruments, Sir Martin and Lady Wood.

The company raised £5.5 million in second-round funding in late 2005. Energy Ventures of Norway led the deal, and was joined by return backers Scottish Equity Partners, Dynamics and Eurovestech.

ARKeX provides services in feasibility modelling, survey planning, data processing and interpretation and recently started commercial gravity gradiometry surveys.
