News snippets: Prelude ellicits some interest; Cybit signs up £1.2m new business

Prelude Trust plc said its January announcement that its Board was evaluating strategic options has resulted in some indicative interest in the company’s assets, the company said. The Board is progressing these expressions of interest and expects to communicate to shareholders further on this matter in a few weeks time.

The Net Asset Value per share ( the standard measure of performance) at 31 December was £1.21 compared to £1.36 at the end of the previous quarter, it said in its interim management statement for the period from 1 October to 31 January.

Cybit Holdings plc, the Telematics service provider, announced a clutch of new business wins, contract renewals and contract extensions with customers across all three of its key market sectors. In aggregate the contracts are worth £1.2m.

CEO Richard Horsman (pictured) said: “Across the business, we are making excellent progress. The level of new enquiries and new business wins is very encouraging. Our telematics solutions are increasingly recognised as important business tools for companies to improve efficiencies and to reduce costs, increase productivity and aid legislative compliance.

“We remain confident that we will continue to deliver further positive news in the future.”

The firm’s share price gained 2% on the news.

Product design and development consultancy 42 Technology Ltd has brought in a senior consultant to build and lead a new in-house resource for client projects requiring advanced electronics and embedded software, particularly for instrumentation and mechatronic products.

Dr John Wilkes joins as a senior consultant to help create innovative electronics products and to further boost 42T’s profile and sales in increasingly important sectors such as point-of-care diagnostics, telemedicine and more energy-efficient devices. Before joining 42T, Dr Wilkes was a lead consultant with Sagentia for over seven years.

World-Check, in partnership with data quality specialist Datanomic, recently embarked on a project to screen the UK’s Companies House register of companies, company directors and secretaries against World-Checks global database of high risk individuals and organisations. The underlying aim of the project was to identify the growing number of high risk individuals registering and operating businesses in the UK. The project involved screening 6.8 million names of active UK companies and their Directors and Secretaries using Datanomic’s Sanctions & PEP Screening solution against World-Check’s database of some 750,000 high risk individuals and businesses, including PEPs (Politically Exposed Persons), money launderers, fraudsters, terrorists, sanctioned entities and twelve other high risk categories.

The results showed 3,994 exact matches of high risk individuals registered in the UK. World-Check found 1,504 disqualified directors running current UK companies despite the existence of the Register of Disqualified Directors.
