News briefs: Datanomics raises $3.5m; Girton Labs develops new ‘hands-free’ camera
Data quality specialists, Datanomic Ltd has secured a further $3.5m investment after a year of record growth and commercial momentum. The investment, by 3i, DN Capital and Silicon Valley Bank, will fund geographical expansion, strategic partnership activities, and help develop market penetration within its two core lines of business – SPS (Sanctions PEP Screening) and DQI (Data Quality Integration).
Fuelled by demand for its award-winning data quality platform, Datanomic grew revenues by more than 300% over the past 12 months and over 50 new customers in the Financial Services, Telecoms and Retail markets came on board.
CEO Jonathan Pell (pictured) said: “There are a number of key factors underpinning our growth, such as legislative drivers around compliance and risk management, as well as the need for stable migration and integration of business critical data.
“This latest round of funding is not only an endorsement of investor confidence in our rapidly growing market, but also in our strategic business plan and the opportunities around customer acquisition, global growth and technology leadership.”

A new type of camera - the Ixpcam from Girton Labs Ltd - captures images based on advanced sensing technology similar to that used in the Hubble telescope. The user wears the camera and moments in the day are captured automatically as images into a memory card of up to 8GByte. No user interaction is needed.
Ixpcam is a new type of camera invented by Lyndsay Williams, MD of Girton Labs Ltd that captures images based on advanced sensing technology. The sensing technology is based on a 32 bit ARM7 microcontroller with image processing to enhance images and remove dull images. Images can even be captured in the dark.
