Fulton buys Splashpower out of liquidation
Alticor Inc subsidiary Fulton Innovation has bought Cambridge-based Splashpower Ltd, a developer of wireless power technology. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Splashpower was in liquidation.
Fulton is the exclusive licensor of eCoupled Intelligent Wireless Power technology. The company said the acquisition reinforced its position in the fast growing wireless power industry by expanding.
The acquisition “reaffirms Fulton's commitment to the continued development and commercialization of wireless power," said Dave Baarman, director of advanced technologies for Fulton Innovation.
"By combining our own robust patent portfolio with Splashpower's, we continue to strengthen and expand our capabilities in the development of wireless power as well as our global presence."
Splashpower went into administration in late March this year.
It was a privately held company developing wireless power technology. Its inductive charging technology enables power to be transferred without wires to a range of mobile devices. It was founded in 2001 by two engineering graduates from the University of Cambridge, one of whom, Lily Cheng (pictured) served as CEO.
