Domino Printing buys German laser marker firm for €4m
Domino Printing Sciences plc has acquired Photon Energy GmbH for €4m in cash.
The Photon Group, whose turnover in 2007 was €6.8 million, is based in Ottensoos, Germany. It designs and makes solid state laser sources and marking systems for use in plastic and metal parts marking and surface decoration applications.
The sellers are Dr Hans Amler, Erich Weimel and Bayerische Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbH. Dr Amler will remain as general manager of Photon.
Domino's MD Nigel Bond said: "We have made this acquisition to address the growing demand from our customer base for solid state laser systems and to expand Domino's reach into the automotive, aircraft, electronic, tool and medical sectors currently served by the Photon Group.
"The acquisition complements our existing CO2 laser business which principally serves the coding and marking requirements of the food, beverage, pharmaceutical and tobacco sectors."
Domino's shares traded up 1% to 295p on the news. The Cambridge-HQed group is now valued at £325.48m
