Briefs: Autonomy wins UK ‘Business Oscar’; Cambridge Consultants launch pocket-sized printer with Bluetooth

Autonomy Corporation plc, a global leader in infrastructure software for the enterprise, said that Foundography, a subsidiary of Nexus Business Media Ltd, has selected Autonomy to power vertical search on its website for IT professionals: foundographytech.com. The site enables business information users to access only the information they want and through Autonomy's conceptual capabilities delivers an 'already found' set of results, providing pertinent information users may not have known existed. The site also presents a unique proposition for advertisers, providing conceptually targeted ad selling.

Autonomy also said it was named the winner of the "Badenoch and Clark Business of the Year" award, described by UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown as 'the Business Oscars'.

The award recognizes exceptional financial returns, strong growth and innovative strategies, plus market leadership in its sector.

Cybit Holdings, specialist in telematics based products and services for the management and control of land and sea based assets, has been awarded a five-year contract by the Highways Agency to track and monitor over 400 winter service vehicles.

Cybit's winter maintenance tracking solution will be supplied on the Highways Agency's new winter service fleet which is responsible for keeping all England's motorway and major A roads free from snow and ice in winter. The first vehicles will be on the road this autumn and the remainder are being delivered over the next four years.

Cambridge Consultants said a pocket-sized printer with Bluetooth connectivity "looks set to take the market by storm", thanks to BlueStack and Interface Express software packages, and their fast integration with the CSR family of Bluetooth chips.

The PRINTSTIK, currently distributed in North America by PlanOn Systems Solutions Inc. and soon available in Europe and other regions, incorporates Cambridge Consultants' Bluetooth stack on a single BlueCore chip. At barely 48mm x 25mm x 280mm, it offers the smallest full page hand-held with self contained paper solution for the mobile executive. Connecting to laptops, PDAs or smart-phones, the 680g, ruggedised device can print up to three pages a minute wherever and whenever needed.

ANT Software, provider of software and services for the delivery of digital TV, said that Unihan Corp, a subsidiary of AsusTek, has licensed ANT Galio Browser for its new set top boxes. The first customer for the new Unihan set-top box is Japanese Contents Delivery Systems Integrator and Service Provider Cool.revo Inc, which plans to roll-out new IPTV services in Q1 2009.

ANT said analysts predict that IPTV subscribers in Asia will grow from 2.7 million in 2006 to over 33 million by 2012. Japan and Hong Kong are the most mature markets contributing about 60% of the total Asia/Pacific subscriber population in 2006. These markets are expected to continue to lead Asia/Pacific in IPTV development.
