Autonomy notches 10th year in Software Mag ranking; wins 2 major contracts

Autonomy Corporation plc said that Software Magazine named it one of the world's largest software companies in 2009 in the publication's 27th Annual Software 500 ranking of the world's largest software and service providers.

It is the tenth year in a row that Autonomy has been recognized by the publication.

"The 2009 Software 500 results show that revenue growth in the software and services industry was healthy," John P Desmond, editor of Software Magazine said.

The Software 500 is a revenue-based ranking of the world's largest software and services suppliers targeting medium to large enterprises, their IT professionals, software developers and business managers involved in software and services purchasing. The ranking is based on total worldwide software and services revenue for 2008.

In a separate development, Autonomy Corporation plc said that the City of Tacoma, Washington DC has selected its suite of Meaning Based Computing solutions, including the company's records management, business process management and early case assessment solutions. These Autonomy solutions will allow the different departments within the City to make better decisions for the benefits of its citizens, as well as achieve cost savings and improve operational efficiency.

Autonomy's records management solution will be used to securely store and manage the City's more than 10TB of records.

Autonomy also said it has entered into an agreement with an unnamed global security company for over $1m to license Autonomy's Intelligent Data Operating Layer software for litigation support.

Autonomy has performed well on the stock market in recent months. It is currently trading close to 12 month highs and has a market capitalisation of around £3.6 billion.
